Live online parenting classes vs. self-paced courses
A live class meets at a set time with a facilitator and other parents. A self-paced course is recorded lessons you finish on your own. Self-paced courses usually cost less and fit any schedule. Live classes add practice, discussion, and attendance taken at each class. If you were referred, ask what your court or caseworker accepts before you choose.

A self-paced course may fit if
- You can’t commit to the same time every week
- You want a quick overview of the basics
- Your requirement allows a self-paced course, or you don’t have a requirement
A live class may fit if
- You learn better by practicing and talking things through
- You want to work through situations from your own family with a group
- Your court, mediator, or caseworker asks for live instruction or attendance records
- You want a class taught in Spanish by a Spanish-speaking facilitator
Before you choose either one
If a court, CPS, or probation referred you, ask them three things first:
- Is a self-paced course accepted, or does the class need to be live?
- How many hours are required?
- Who should receive the certificate, and do they need anything else, like attendance records?

Common questions
Do courts accept online parenting classes?
It depends on the court, the county, and the type of case. Some accept online courses, some ask for live classes, and some name a specific program. Ask your attorney, mediator, caseworker, or probation officer before you enroll.
Is a Zoom class live or online?
Both. It happens online, in real time, with a facilitator and other parents. If your requirement says “live” or “in person,” ask whether a live video class counts.
Why do your classes ask for my camera on?
So attendance can be confirmed. If you have a reason you can’t use a camera, tell us before class.
Do you offer a self-paced version?
No. All of our classes are live on Zoom. There are no recorded classes.
