What this program is
This is the same 10-class parent education program parents take, taught live in small groups of 5 to 10. Caregivers learn alongside parents, and the skills are the same whether the child calls you Mom, Grandma, or Tía.
These classes are parent education, not therapy.
Classes that fit a caregiver’s situation
Children who come to live with a relative or foster family have often been through big changes. These classes speak to that directly.
-
Class 2 · Age-appropriate expectations: development and skills What children can handle at each age, and how instability can affect the way a child behaves.
-
Class 3 · Understanding your child’s emotions Helping a child name big feelings, and looking for the need beneath a behavior.
-
Class 6 · Discipline that teaches Consequences that teach, and alternatives to physical discipline.
-
Class 9 · Blended families, shared caregiving, and family meetings Loyalty binds, keeping rules steady across households, and the role of a partner or relative in a child’s life.
-
Class 10 · Safety and your plan forward Supervision by age, home and online safety, and local referral resources.
